Home remodeling projects can be very rewarding, but which will provide the best returns?
Many home owners preparing to sell their home plan remodeling projects to raise the value of their home. However, did you know that very few actually result in a positive return on their investment?
Every year, Remodeling magazine does a study on the most popular home improvement projects. They poll contractors and realtors to find out which renovations produce the best impact on a home’s value. According to this year’s report, homeowners average a 64% return of the money they put into a renovation.
However, not all home remodeling projects are created equal. Just like with stock investing, sometimes the less glamorous projects net the best returns. According to their report, adding attic insulation had the highest return on investment at 107.7%. Meanwhile a bathroom remodel, which most see as a great use of money, only netted a 64.8% return.
